NFRI and CEA: deal!

The National Fusion Research Institute (NFRI), Korea, and the CEA signed a framework agreement in the field of magnetic fusion research on Friday, July 8. Both of them will benefit from the operation of their superconducting tokamak: KSTAR and WEST.

At the effective date, the two Institutes have already identified the following projects for the period 2016-2019:

– Plasma Wall Interaction (with the implementation at NFRI of the PCFFlux code developed by IRFM)

– Impurity transport (test in WEST of a prototype of the ITER vacuum ultraviolet core survey spectrometer developed by NFRI)

– Theoretical Modeling

– Lower Hybrid Current Drive (IRFM experts shall support the NFRI LHCD team)

Keeman KIM, NFRI president and Alain Becoulet, Head of IRFM signed the agreement
