Job Description

Job Posting Description

As Head of the Machine Auxiliary Systems Group (GSAM) for the WEST tokamak, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for the operation, maintenance, modernization, and performance of the technical systems essential to the tokamak’s operation. You ensure their availability, reliability, and performance in order to maximize WEST’s availability for its experimental program.

You will lead a team of engineers and technicians with complementary skills, organized around various critical systems (cryogenics, electrical engineering, cooling loops, ultra-high vacuum pumping, etc.). You foster versatility, promote knowledge sharing, and support the teams’ professional development. You organize safety on-call shifts and standby duties during operational periods.

You will define the group’s priorities in collaboration with management and operations, coordinate maintenance operations and facility modernization projects, drawing on the expertise of numerous industrial partners. As part of this effort, you will support the establishment of an industrial platform designed to provide technical support for maintenance activities, standardize work methods, and improve the operational performance of systems.

Beyond activities related to WEST, you will promote the Group’s expertise by contributing to the Institute’s projects and to national and international collaborations, notably with ITER, Fusion for Energy (F4E), and industrial partners.
