On November 19, 2019, Xavier GARBET received the Fernand Holweck Prize from the hands of the President of the IOP, Jonathan Flint, and in the presence of Sylvie Rousset, Vice-President of the SFP, during a very official ceremony in London.

Jonathan Flint gave him the medal, with the effigy of the physicist Fernand Howelck, during a ceremony held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. The prize is awarded every year alternately to an English scientist by the French Physical Society (SFP), and to a French scientist by the Institute of Physics (IOP).
The day before Xavier Garbet presented a conference at the Culham Science Center entitled “Turbulent transport in fusion – a brief history“, retracing 40 years of research on the subject.
He will present this conference again at the IRFM on January 16, 2020.
