The IRFM is made up of three departments, each with its own specific characteristics
Engineering, Internals and Projects Department
This department is responsible for the development, operation and protection of components inside the vacuum chamber (plasma components and heating systems).
Fusion Plasma Physics Department
This department is responsible for the development, operation, experimentation, measurement instruments and modelling in all areas relating to plasma, its interactions with the tokamak environment, the study of transport, the optimisation of confinement and plasma stability.
Tokamak Operation and Piloting Department
This department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, experimentation and development of the Tore Supra tokamak (in WEST configuration) and the development of its basic systems.
