On 12 March, the IRFM was pleased to welcome Japanese students as part of the European tour of the JT-60SA International Fusion School (JIFS).
Created in 2023, this school aims at training the next generation of fusion physicists and engineers, by connecting the talents of Japan and Europe via the EURATOM programme.
Funded and organised by the QST (Japan) and the EUROfusion consortium, the JIFS also benefits from the expertise of numerous researchers and lecturers from European and Japanese universities and institutes.
During their visit to the IRFM, the students were given a presentation on the CEA and the IRFM’s activities. They then visited the Tore hall and the WEST control room, where they exchanged views with our operation and programme leaders. These moments of sharing strengthen scientific cooperation between Europe and Japan, a key element in major international projects such as ITER.
