UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology) joins WEST to prepare ITER

Dr. Gabriele FIONI, Director of the Physical Science Division of CEA and Pr. Moo Young JUNG, Vice President for Research Affairs of UNIST signed a framework agreement in the field of magnetic fusion research.
According to the agreement, the scientists of the Fusion Plasma Stability and Confinement Research Center (FPSCRC) will join the Institute for Magnetic Fusion Research (IRFM) to prepare ‘Operation and Control of Long Pulse Plasmas’ in ITER. In particular, UNIST will implement 2D/3D imaging diagnostic systems, developed at FPSCRC, on WEST addressing crucial magneto-hydrodynamic and transport physics issues.
The signing ceremony took place on 1st Sept 2014 in Ulsan, and followed by an unveiling ceremony of Fusion Plasma Stability and Confinement Research Center celebrated by Prof. Hyeon PARK, Director and the signatories of the cooperation agreement.
