Le Festival de Théorie is an international meeting supported by ITER, initiated and sponsored by Mr. Jean Jacquinot, Scientific Advisor to the ITER Director. The CEA-IRFM organizes it every two years, and it always takes place in Aix-en-Provence over four weeks. It brings together about 100 researchers in magnetic fusion, astrophysics, geophysics and static physics, including about 40 senior physicists. Le festival de Théorie is an international scientific event, created in 2001 under the impulse of Mr. Jean Jacquinot, current Scientific Advisor to the ITER Director. It takes place every odd year in Aix-en-Provence, in July. The pandemic having somewhat disrupted the organization, the 11th edition took place under an online conference format. The 12th edition will be held over four weeks, from 04 to 29 July 2022. As in 2017 and 2019, the first two weeks of the conference will be devoted to the presentation of new interdisciplinary results, covering magnetic confinement fusion, astrophysics and geophysics, and to courses for young researchers. During the last two weeks, research projects will be iniciated by brilliant young researchers, selected on the basis of applications, under the supervision of a senior expert. This conference brings together about thirty international senior experts in fusion plasma physics, astrophysics, and related fields such as fluid mechanics or geophysics. The interdisciplinary format and the long duration fulfill a triple purpose : to strengthen transdisciplinary collaborators, to train young high-level researchers and to present the most recent work by promoting new ideas.
