At the dawn of the creation of a Franco-Chinese research center on fusion

On February the 9th a delegation of CEA, led by Gabriele Fioni, visited the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST) to sign a "Letter of Intent", in order to prepare the creation of a joint Franco-Chinese Center for Fusion Science and Technology. This first document intended to formalize this new impetus given to a collaboration already very fruitful. A few weeks earlier, on  January the 12th , a Chinese delegation composed of representatives of the MOST and of the ITER Chinese Domestic Agency (ITER CNDA) led by Jian SUN, Deputy Director General of the CNDA, visited IRFM to affirm the Chinese willingness to create such a Joint Center. The official step taken on February the 9th  through this signature formalizes the common motivation of the CEA and MOST to collaborate more closely on the future of magnetic fusion, with a priority support given to ITER.
